Let's Climb This Mountain
My kids' book I AM THE MOUNTAIN is out TUE June 6th!
First off, I’d LOVE to get you this signed print for free.
If you preorder my kids’ book I AM THE MOUNTAIN from Books Are Magic by the end of the day tomorrow (6/2), they’ll slip this print into the book.
(FYI - Books Are Magic will ship anywhere. Click either bookstore location on their site.)
Time of the essence because…
I AM THE MOUNTAIN is coming out NEXT WEEK!
Whether you want to learn how to paint mountains, have a great Italian aperitivo afterwards, or live in Houston, I’ve got you covered for events!
Here’s the Mountain’s (and my) schedule:
6/4 11 AM Books Are Magic (122 Montague St, Brooklyn, NY) - THE LAUNCH! I’ll read the book, do some mountain painting demos and then we’ll all color in our own mountains. Please RSVP here.
6/5 6:30 PM Sullaluna (41 Carmine St, New York, NY). Julia Rothman is one of my favorite artists and someone I’ve looked up to for decades. I’m honestly still swooning a bit that she agreed to join me in conversation talking about this book and how impossible it is to paint the things our eyes don’t technically pick up: smells, feels, sounds, and taste. What could be even better? Italian cocktails and bites to follow! Please RSVP here.
6/19-6/20 Houston, TX . Two events!
Friday 6/19 7-8:30PM, I’ll be doing an all ages author talk at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. They have a new show on pigments so I’ll be talking about everything from WHAT IS COLOR? to I AM THE MOUNTAIN after spending the afternoon stomping on blueberries with their summer campers. (Guys, I like my calendar.)
All throughout the two quick days in Texas: AS MANY TACOS AS POSSIBLE.
In other words, I’m keeping busy!
That said, there’s always time for fishing. And yes, I did sneak a brookie into a spread in I AM THE MOUNTAIN:
But back to fishing: My neighbors at West Kill Brewing are putting on their annual Charmed Circle Fly Fishing Classic this weekend. It’s a very low-key all-abilities fishing tournament where we raise a bunch of money for good causes and clean up the waterways. There’s still time to join here.
I’ll see you at the afterparty this Sunday!
-Steven
PS - Still somehow have a spot on your calendar I haven’t taken over? Come to the Spruceton Inn the weekend of 6/26-28 and let’s paint. Materials included. Mountains too!

Can't wait!
