Summer Busy
Make the most of summer at the Spruceton Inn and our last second rooms this weekend.
Yesterday I took a moment. Wet paint was already on my palette. I had a breath of time between deadlines and meetings, and I thought back to the way a slice of yellow-green flows along the slope of Rusk Mountain this time of year.
So I painted it:

And then…
Well I went back to the billion things we’re all doing because it’s the point of summer where we have to do a billion things BECAUSE IT’S BASICALLY AUGUST!
Still, there’s plenty of summer. If you want to make the most of it, please come stay at the Spruceton Inn this weekend. We have last second rooms. Please fill them up.
Why the rooms? Well… We’ve been planning some very exciting and extensive stream work with New York State. (They’re putting in a deep fishing/swimming hole!!) But because of the inevitable delays of construction, the project that was going to start this is week is starting the following.
We thought we’d be closed.
Now we’re open.
I’ll also be bartending Friday and Saturday 5-8pm.
Come say hi!
(And bye to the currently rather eroded and ready-for-some-love bit of the West Kill behind the inn.)
What else?
I’ll be at the Louise Adelia Read Memorial Library in Hancock, NY tomorrow 7/31 10-11 AM reading and doodling from What Is Color? and helping celebrate the end of their summer reading program.
I’m at the Kingston Farmer’s Market this Saturday from 10-1 pm at the Rough Draft Bar & Books booth talking kids’ books and coloring! Come snag a signed copy of What Is Color? to go with those red/orange/yellow/green/blue/violet tomatoes.
I really liked fellow-angler/substacker David Coggins ‘s recent post on if you’re thinking of starting a newsletter. It’s hard to do this better than David. Thanks for the thoughts!
And… for fun I designed a bocce club patch for my buds at Van Dusen’s. Go grab some fresh eggs, a beer, and toss some balls around. It’s still summer!
